On the homepage of the Gforth project, 0.7.3 is pointed out as being the latest release.
That’s not true at all. I consider it a mistake to call 0.7.3 the latest release since at the time of this writing I work with Gforth 0.7.9_20231123.
When you read further on the Gforth homepage, https://gforth.org/, you’ll find a link to the latest snapshot, a readily available tarball and, most conveniently, a description on how to use the repository on Github.
On https://fossil.net2o.de/net2o/doc/trunk/wiki/get-it.md you find another description regarding the GPG key and how to use it. This assures for safe updates using apt.
On Reddit there are also two articles regarding this issue:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Forth/comments/1846euh/gforth_net2o_and_a_warning_from_apt/
and
https://www.reddit.com/r/Forth/comments/17nhi8d/dont_install_gforth_using_apt_install_gforth_a/
Hope this helps!
